Hats off to the students in Mrs. Smith's 8^th grade Literature class!

Inspired by the book, Three Cups of Tea, a book which is a testament to the difference one person can make in our world, students in Mrs. Smith's 8^th grade literature class designed a fund raiser to benefit education of children in Pakistan, and Afghanistan.  The students collected close to $300.00. 

The book is a true story about one man's journey through the remote regions of Pakistan.  Greg Mortenson, an American, who got lost while hiking in the mountainous areas, was shocked to discover that there were no schools in many of the villages.  He was inspired to start an organization, Pennies for Peace, in an effort to raise money for building schools in these villages.

Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin is a great "read" for those interested in hearing the whole story.
