Meet Our Assistant Principal

Shay Stewart serves as the Assistant Principal of Summerdale School, bringing more than 25 years of experience in education. Throughout her career, she has served as a high school French and English Language Arts teacher, ESL resource teacher, instructional leader, and mentor. Her work has been guided by a deep commitment to helping students succeed, supporting teachers, and building strong school communities.

A National Board Certified Teacher and the 2025 AMTESOL Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Stewart is passionate about student achievement, teacher growth, and meaningful partnerships with families and the community. Summerdale School holds a special place in Mrs. Stewart’s heart. From 2002 to 2017, she spent 15 years serving Summerdale’s students, families, and staff as an ESL teacher.  

Outside of school, Mrs. Stewart enjoys reading, singing, traveling, and learning about other cultures and languages. She and her husband, Pastor Rife Stewart, have been married for 39 years and are the proud parents of two adult children, Savannah and Noah.

Mrs. Stewart is honored to be part of the Summerdale School family. Her desire is to foster relationships that benefit both the school and community, to support students and staff, and to continue the school’s tradition of excellence.
